Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has this evening confirmed that he intends to field a team of youngsters when his side face off against Shrewsbury again in a little over a week’s time.
The European champions got their FA Cup campaign back underway a short time ago, with a trip to League One minnows Shrewsbury Town.
Liverpool booked their spot in the competition’s 4th-round with a 1-0 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton at the beginning of the month.
On that occasion, Jurgen Klopp opted to field a side packed with players from the club’s academy.
However, with the Reds having since extended their lead atop the Premier League table to a staggering 16 points (with a game in hand), Klopp handed the likes of the returning Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho starts this evening.
In addition, star men Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold were all in waiting on the bench.
When all was said and done at Montgomery Waters Meadow, however, Liverpool failed to get the better of their lower-league opponents.
A thrilling affair eventually saw the hosts fight back from 2 goals down to secure a draw courtesy of substitute Jason Cummings:

As such, another fixture has been added to Liverpool’s hectic schedule.
The Merseysiders are set to play host to Shrewsbury in a replay clash on the 4th of February.
And, as outlined above, Jurgen Klopp has since revealed his intention to field an XI packed with young talent once more when his side welcome the Blues to Anfield, to ensure that his senior squad avail of some form of winter break:
