RB Leipzig standout
Timo Werner has been on RB Leipzig’s books since the summer of 2016.
Leipzig are believed to have paid fellow German outfit VfB Stuttgart around £12m for Werner’s services.
Since making the switch to Leipzig, Werner has gone on to cement himself as one of the top forward’s in the Bundesliga.
In 140 outings across all competitions for Leipzig, the 23-year-old has netted 86 and provided 37 assists.
The versatile forward is also having a particularly impressive 2019/20 campaign.
In 18 Bundesliga outings this term, Werner has found the back of the net on 20 occasions and he has also provided six assists.
As well as impressing for his club, Werner is becoming an increasingly integral member of the German national team.
Since his debut in 2017, Werner has notched up 29 appearances for Germany’s senior side, scoring 11 in said games.
Werner to Premier League?
And after hitting the ground running this term, Werner is now being linked with a move away from Leipzig.
The Mirror recently reported that Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Chelsea are going head-to-head for the German.
The report from the Mirror claims Chelsea have already opened negotiations for Werner. Jurgen Klopp is also understood to be an admirer of the Leipzig standout.
Also, given Werner is capable of playing on the left-wing, he would be a superb addition for Chelsea and Liverpool as both clubs could do with some extra depth across their attacks.
Liverpool vs Man United
Liverpool’s next tie sees them play host to bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
