Silva set for Man City exit

David Silva has been on Manchester City’s books for close to 10 years now.

The Spaniard moved from Valencia in July of 2010 and has gone on to cement himself as arguably one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players.

Silva has racked up a very impressive 415 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues.

In those 415 ties, Silva has scored 74 and provided 136 assists.

The midfield maestro has also won a plethora of trophies during his stint with the Manchester powerhouse, including four Premier League titles.

However, the ageing midfielder’s time with City is almost over.

Silva is out of contract in the summer and the Spaniard has already announced his intentions to leave the club when his contract expires.

Guardiola on replacing Silva

Silva, along with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany, has been pivotal to City’s rise in the last decade or so and losing a player of his quality will surely be a blow to the current Premier League champions.

However, it doesn’t sound as though Man City will be replacing Silva anytime soon.

When speaking about Silva, Pep Guardiola stated that he doesn’t think City will sign anyone in Silva’s position. Although Guardiola also conceded he may have changed his mind in the next six months:

“I don’t think we’re going to do anything in this position, I don’t think we will sign anyone.

“Maybe I will change my mind it depends on the next six months, but I have other priorities and I don’t think I’m going to buy because I have enough.

“Bernardo can play there, Phil is there, we have (Ilkay) Gundogan, we have Kevin (De Bruyne) so I don’t think we will do anything in this position. That is my thought today, we will see at the end of the season.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
